Chairman’s Report for September 14th, 2012

THE PRESIDENCY

A DISTURBING BUT DEFINING MOMENT – Even those with just a casual interest in politics are now familiar with the bizarre moment during the Democratic  National Convention when the chairman, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, had great difficulty in passing an amendment to restore a mention of God back into the Democrat platform.

The amendment to the Platform was offered by Ohio Governor Ted Strickland who had chaired the Platform Committee. The amendment was to add back two key phrases that his committee had removed from the platform before it passed just the night before, by voice vote of all delegates present. One phrase referred to God, the second to acknowledging the capital of Israel as Jerusalem.

Note: Muslims claim no Jews ever lived in Jerusalem prior to modern times and further that the city was not named Jerusalem in ancient times. Muslim schools, including universities, teach that there was never a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem and that it has always been a Muslim city named Al-Quds. This actually explains the original removal of Jerusalem from the Democrat Platform this year, as that political party reaches out for the Muslim vote in Michigan. Obama’s senior advisor on Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, John Brennan, has in the past referred to Jerusalem as “Al-Quds.”

After the amendment was offered and seconded, Villaraigosa was forced to ask for the vote three times. The first two times there were more “nays” than “yeas” and a two-thirds vote was required. On the third try the voice vote was about even but Villaraigosa gaveled the change.

Muslim boo God at Democrat conventionThe majority of those watching the Democrat convention on TV, including the majority of Democrats, were stunned. For two days the absence of God and the removal of a reference to Jerusalem had been front page news and had proved to be an embarrassment to President Obama. Changing the wording of the platform to include God and Jerusalem was critical, yet the core of the Democrat Party — the activists at the Convention — wanted God and Jerusalem out.

What made this a defining moment was the exposure to the public of a large anti-Semitic element within the Democrat party combined with a general anti-Biblical attitude. The disturbing aspect was the combining of these two elements for public display at their convention. The vast majority of Americans were bewildered by the behavior, by the booing at the mention of God.

The anger of the Muslim delegates, nearly a hundred of them, was predictable on the Jerusalem issue. What was striking was the number of non-Muslims in the Democrat party that also would like to see the end of Israel.

Unfortunately for President Obama and his party, the public display against God and Israel which included booing at the final vote result, invigorated conservative Christians and Jews who were not that enthusiastic about Mitt Romney. Many now see the Democrat Party as ungodly and they are more likely to go to the polls on Election Day than they had been. Mitt Romney may not inspire true conservatives, but fear of this ungodly turn may motivate them.

Commpare the Democrat Party of today with the Democrat Party of Franklin Roosevelt on the issue of faith. On D-Day, the day the Allies invaded Europe, he asked  Americans to pray this prayer with him:

“Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.

Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.

They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph…

After praying as well for the families of the men in combat Roosevelt closed his prayer:

“And, O Lord, give us Faith. Give us Faith in Thee; Faith in our sons; Faith in each other; Faith in our united crusade. Let not the keenness of our spirit ever be dulled. Let not the impacts of temporary events, of temporal matters of but fleeting moment let not these deter us in our unconquerable purpose.

With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogancies. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister Nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil. Thy will be done, Almighty God.”

You will never hear such a prayer uttered from the mouths of President Barack Obama, Senate Leader Harry Reid or House Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi. Their social agenda is one that is truly anti-Biblical; it champions abortion and homosexuality as the norms of society while appeasing radical Muslims to obtain their votes.

Faith is not a part of the Democrat agenda today, because their god is government.

THE GOALS OF SOCIAL CONSERVATIVE POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS  – Besides leading this organization I am also the chairman of Government Is Not God – Political Action Committee (GING-PAC).  I founded GING-PAC back in 1993 and the first election the PAC participated in was in 1994, the year of the so called Gingrich Revolution. I did not found the PAC to support either Newt Gingrich or the Republican Party, but to help elect socially conservative, godly men and women running for office. One of the first such candidates GING-PAC supported was a young man running for Congress in Kansas named Sam Brownback. He later became a Senator who very aggressively chaired the Values Action Team in the Senate and was key to passing the Partial Birth Abortion ban. He is now governor of Kansas

GING-PAC is the oldest political action committee for social conservatives in the nation.  I still do chair it, and I still try to make a difference through it by helping elect social conservatives to office, including my good friend Congressman Todd Akin who is running for the Senate in Missouri. Congressman Akin wrote the forward to one of my books, The Pledge: One Nation Under God. I keep the affairs of GING-PAC separate from those of the Religious Freedom Coalition, which is a non-profit organization

I founded the PAC and called it Government Is Not God, because I saw the creeping beast of government becoming just that, a new kind of god to worship, a god-like government that was replacing the family and placing itself at the center of everyone’s life. My fears have become reality. Today about half of the households in the United States receive some kind of financial support from the government, from food stamps to Social Security. Despite the outrage over Barrack Obama’s pro-abortion and pro-homosexual attitudes and his attacks on those who truly believe in the Word of God, he is ahead in national polls and ahead in seven of the eight so called battleground states. He has replaced God with government for many families in this nation, and they intend to vote for him to keep the bucks rolling their way

A FATEFUL WARNING, A PROPHECY – William Booth, who lived from 1829 to 1916, was the founder of the Salvation Army. As the 20th Century began, he was asked by someone what he saw as the dangers for the next hundred years. This is how he responded:

“In answer to your inquiry, I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell.”

The first government without God was founded in 1917, the year after his death. The atheist government of the Soviet Union, trying to bring about a utopia under central control, killed more of its own citizens than died in all the wars in the 20th century. Tens of millions were slaughtered or deliberately starved to death, including millions of Ukrainians. Other godless governments followed, including Mao’s murderous rampage in China.

Now we have those who want godless governments in Europe and the Americas.

William Booth also predicted “forgiveness without repentance,” in other words a church that would not only give forgiveness to the sinner, but to the sin as well, changing the words of Jesus from “go and sin no more” to “go and sin as you please.”

Today in America as the government becomes godless, our churches are becoming Christless. Rainbow flags welcoming homosexuals adorn churches, and lesbians have become deacons and pastors. Many of the Protestant churches now promise heaven to everyone without the threat of hell. What Booth feared would one day happen has become a reality.

Sadly the elites of the Republican Party have decided that “it’s all about the economy.”

It is not all about the economy! The collapse of the family and the disintegration of the authority of the church have done more damage to the economy than any other factor. Government replacing fathers and hot lunch programs replacing mothers, and printing presses that never stop printing money – these things are destroying the nation. The problem is the increased social spending that causes nothing but damage to the families of this nation, as a permanent underclass of fatherless children is created. Worse, those unchurched fatherless children clog the jails and bring about the militarization of the police force.

Gov. Romney, House Leader Boehner, Senate Leader McConnell: you can’t fix the economy by juggling the numbers. The repair needs to be done at the family level, and the repair needs to be done by the church, not the government.

DEALING WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT– As the chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition, I don’t just sit in an office someplace and write op-ed’s for newspapers and send out newsletters. I cannot be effective unless I do more than criticize the establishment. I have to deal with these guys on their turf.

I can’t change the mind of a Republican leader on any subject by writing a blog; I have to meet with him or her face to face. Face to face meetings require that I have the ability to be where our political leaders are. Honestly, that is costly. I have a membership in the Capitol Hill Club which is across the street from the Cannon House Office Building. The Capitol Hill Club is a private, members only club that is exclusive in nature. Membership is restricted to Republican office holders and those such as myself who have been vetted for membership. I have been a member for two decades, and I often have lunch with congressmen at the Capitol Hill Club.

I am also a member of the Council for National Policy which meets three times a year at various locations around the country. Only top conservative leaders are invited, and often presidential hopefuls come to ask support from those in the organization. All meetings are off the record, and I am not allowed to report on what I see or do there. The membership and associated fees cost me thousands of dollars a year.
