BREAKING NEWS: Pope Francis Condemns Church Bombings In Pakistan; 14 Killed

Pope Francis on Sunday, March 15, appealed for peace and solidarity with Pakistan’s “persecuted” Christian minority after bombings at two churches in Lahore left at least 14 people dead and scores of others wounded. He also accused the world of trying to hide the persecution of Christians.

Obama backed “rebels” make demands for release of nuns

The Daily Star in Lebanon is reporting that a group with ties to al-Qaeda are making demands on the Syrian government through the Vatican for the release of nuns and orphans they have abducted. As the “rebels” are supplied and salaries paid for by the Saudi Arabia and the United States an order from President Barack Obama to release the nuns and orphans is really all that is required.

Egypt Government Condemns Church Attack; Four Christians Killed

Egypt’s government and religious leaders have condemned an attack outside a Coptic church in Egypt’s capital Cairo that killed four people, including an 8-year-old girl. The condemnation came just hours after gunmen shot dead two adults and two girls, aged eight and 12, following a church wedding, state media reported.

Prospects Appear Dim for Religious Freedom in Cuba

U.K.-based Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) counted 120 religious rights violations on the island last year, compared with 30 in 2011. Hundreds of people were affected, with some cases involving entire churches and denominations. CSW notes that the tally of religious rights violations does not include more than 200 people believed to have been incarcerated during Pope Benedict 2012 visit
