Reactions In Arab Press To Kidnapping Of Nigerian Girls

About one month ago, the global jihad group Boko Haram, which operates in Nigeria, kidnapped nearly 300 schoolgirls, most of them Christian, from their secondary school in the town of Chibok in the northeast of the country. Initially the organization announced it intended to sell the girls into forced marriages,[1] but in a video released on May 12, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau said that some of the girls had converted to Islam and that it would release the girls who had not converted in return for the release of Boko Haram prisoners.

Syria nuns kidnapped from Maalula in new video

A group of nuns from the historic Christian-majority town of Maalula in Syria appeared in a new video broadcast by the Qatar-based satellite news channel Al-Jazeera on Sunday. The women are reportedly 12 nuns from a Greek Orthodox convent of Mar Takla in Maalula who were taken by gunmen in early December. Al-Jazeera said the video it broadcast on Sunday was recorded on 5 February. Note: No effort has been made by the Obama Administration to free the nuns although those holding the nuns are Syrian “rebels” supported by the United States.

Coptic Christian Children: Kidnapped and Killed for Cash

Another Coptic Christian child was recently kidnapped in Egypt.  Thirteen-year-old Cyril Rif‘at Fayiz was abducted in the Minya district by “unknown persons” who later called the child’s parents demanding one million Egyptian pounds, nearly the equivalent of $150,000 USD. Kidnapping and holding Coptic children captive for large ransoms has become a regular feature of the Egyptian landscape

Lebanese General Security chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim said Tuesday he knew the whereabouts of the two bishops kidnapped in Syria last April, describing their case as more complicated than that of the recently released Lebanese pilgrims. The McCain/Obama supported “rebels” holding the Bishops have made no demands.
