Imprisoned for six days over Easter was Council of Churches Baptist Denis Yenenko. He refused to pay a fine in 2013 imposed to punish him for leading worship without the compulsory state permission. “He wasn’t fined for praying to God,” a Prosecutor’s Office official told news agency Forum 18. “He committed an offence and made no attempt to pay the fine.”



NATO nation jails renowned pianist for blasphemy of Islam

Fazil Say, world-renowned pianist, sentenced to jail in Turkey for Blasphemy

An İstanbul court on Friday sentenced Turkish pianist Fazıl Say to 10 months in prison on charges of insulting Islamic religious values in comments he made on Twitter. Turkey also has more journalists in jail than any other nation in the world. Turkey is an American ally and a member of NATO.
