Why the sudden rush for passage of HR-390?

The bill was on hold by the Senate Leadership until the last week of April, when it was suddenly put on  a “fast track” as an election tool to get Christians to vote Republican this fall. But it simply was not the same bill that passed the House last year and Senator Rand Paul was right to put a hold on it until Senator Corker’s language is removed.

Original HR-390 language must be reinstated

The original bill had three main purposes:  First, HR-390 would give assistance for victims of genocide; Second, HR-390 demanded accountability for the perpetrators of genocide and Third, HR-390 would give Christian victims of genocide priority refugee status.

Iraq and Syria Genocide Relief and Accountability Act Hijacked by Neocons

Senator Corker has crossed out every single line of the simple anti-genocide language in HR-390 authored by Congressmen Chris Smith. Senator Corker’s version of the bill makes little mention of the victims of genocide, which include Christians, Yazidis, and Shia Muslims.
