The Muslim Brotherhood has been responsible for a spate of rapes and other Islamists have kidnapped at least 550 girls since 2011 and forced them to convert to Islam.

CAIRO, EGYPT (BosNewsLife)– Egyptian Christians hope Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, who was sworn in Sunday, June 8, as the country’s new president, will combat Islamic extremism and release those jailed or kidnapped for expressing faith in Christ or support for Israel.

Al-Sisi gained more than 93 percent in last month’s vote, but turnout was just 46 percent, according to published figures, as Islamist and some secular groups boycotted the poll.

A Coptic Christian teacher in Egypt allegedly shot by the teenage brother of one of his students has died, human rights activists said yesterday.

Ashraf Alahm Atef Hanna, an English teacher at Marzouk Prep School in the village of Marzouk in Minya Province, succumbed to injuries from the shooting on Tuesday (April 8). He was 35.
