The Saudi government thumbed its nose at a recent Amnesty International report on its barbaric practice of publicly beheading criminals or those convicted of “blasphemy” against Islam. On Wednesday, this Islamic Kingdom beheaded four criminals in different cities throughout Saudi Arabia. This brings to 130 the number of beheadings this year.

Judge In Sudan Rules Two Pastors Can Be Charged With Crimes Punishable By Death

A judge in Sudan ruled yesterday that there was enough evidence to charge two South Sudanese pastors with crimes punishable by death. The charges, including espionage and promoting hatred among or against sects, were formed months after authorities arrested the Rev. Yat Michael in December 2014 and the Rev. Peter Yein Reith in January in response to their efforts to encourage a North Khartoum church in the face of a government-aided take-over of the church’s property.

Scant Evidence Produced against Two South Sudanese Pastors in Sudan, Lawyer Says

A court hearing yesterday in Khartoum for two South Sudanese pastors facing the death penalty was extended to today, then adjourned until June 15 to give prosecutors more time to try building a case, a defense attorney said. Prosecutors need more time to search for evidence in the trial of the Rev. Yat Michael and the Rev. Peter Yein Reith, the attorney said.

Iran Evangelical Pastor Facing Death Penalty

An evangelical Iranian pastor serving a six years prison term for his Christian activities is facing 18 new charges, including “spreading corruption on Earth”, which carries the death penalty, Christian rights activists say. Behnam Irani, who led the 300-member Church of Iran congregation in Karaj city, 20 kilometres (12 miles) west of capital Tehran, is already being held in solitary confinement, despite health problems that reportedly included severe bleeding due to stomach ulcers and colon complications.

Pakistan Court Postpones Appeal Of Christian Woman On Death Row

The fate of a Christian woman who was sentenced to death for blasphemy remained unclear Wednesday, March 19, after a high court postponed an appeals hearing.

Asia Bibi was to appear Monday, March 17, in front of the Lahore High Court in Pakistan’s Punjab province, but the case was adjourned when one of the two judges failed to appear, trial observers said.
