Rampant sexual abuse of children has long been a problem in Afghanistan, particularly among armed commanders who dominate much of the rural landscape and can bully the population. The practice is called bacha bazi, literally “boy play,” and American soldiers and Marines have been instructed not to intervene — in some cases, not even when their Afghan allies have abused boys on military bases, according to interviews and court records.

Saudi Cables Show Links To Afghan Terror Group

Saudi Arabia, a key U.S. ally in the Middle East, had high-level contacts with America’s most deadly adversary in Afghanistan, the Haqqani network, according to purported Saudi diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks.

The documents, which couldn’t be independently verified, say the Saudi ambassador to Pakistan met in 2012 with Nasiruddin Haqqani, the chief fundraiser for the jihadist group who has been on a United Nations terrorism watch list since 2010.

Most recently, in 2014, one ten-year-old victim who was raped by a mullah in a mosque was saved, temporarily, by an Afghan and international woman’s group which has, so far, successfully persuaded her family not to kill her.

His few worldly possessions sat nearby in the 10-by-10-foot room of stone and crumbling brown earth. He keeps a wooden cross with a passage from the Sermon on the Mount written on it, a carton of Esse cigarettes, and a thin plastic folder containing records of his conversion to Christianity.

Christian Doctor Killed By Afghan Security Guard

Dr. Jerry Umanos, a Christian pediatrician who served in Afghanistan, was gunned down last week by an Afghan policeman who was serving as a security guard at the Cure Hospital in Kabul. Three were killed and another one was injured in this latest “insider attack” in this Muslim nation.

Umanos divided his time between the Lawndale Christian Health Center in Chicago and the Cure Hospital.

Taliban Attack U.S. Embassy On Christmas Day

The Taliban, the terrorist group we’ve been fighting in Afghanistan for more than a decade, has just celebrated Christmas by lobbing rockets into our U.S. Embassy in Kabul. The attack failed to kill Americans, which was the goal, of course. According to Afghan President Karzai, during a visit to the U.S. last year to visit with Obama, Tom Donilon (Obama’s national security advisor) told him: “The Taliban are not our enemies and we don’t want to fight them.”
