Trump Loses Support Over Syrian Airstrikes

Apr 10th, 2017 | By | Category: Weekly Washington Updates

Early Friday April 7, the United States military struck a Syrian air base in response to a chemical weapons attack. While it is currently believed that the Syrian regime was responsible for the chemical weapons attack that killed at least 70 people, many people have started questioning that narrative.

Last week, Rep. Thomas Massie first questioned the narrative while being interviewed on CNN. Massie said, “Frankly I don’t think Assad would have done that – it does not serve his interests, it would serve to draw us into that civil war even further.”

Babies of Iraqi Christian refugees fleeing the Islamic State need diapers. Please help!

Peter Hitchens, a write for The Mail on Sunday seems to share Massie’s doubt.

In an article published on Saturday, April 8, Hitchens wrote:

“And then mark that the pretext for this bizarre rocket attack was an unproven claim that President Assad of Syria had used poison gas. Yes, unproven. The brutality of Sisi and the Saudis is beyond doubt. They didn’t use gas, but our leaders’ outrage at Assad’s alleged gas attack looks a little contrived if they keep such company.

Also what happened to the rules of evidence? Many people have written, spoken – and now acted – as if the charge was proven. Why the hurry?

Now, Mr Assad is not a nice person. I have been writing rude things about his bloodstained and wicked regime for years. But he is not insane.

He knows that the use of poison gas is the one thing that will make the USA intervene against him. They have said so. He is currently winning his war against Islamist fanatics, with conventional weapons.

He had even finally got the USA to stop demanding his dismissal. Five days before the alleged attack – five days! – America’s UN ambassador, Nikki Haley, announced: ‘Our priority is no longer to sit there and focus on getting Assad out.’

So why would he do such a thing, and throw away all his victories in a few minutes? It makes no sense of any kind. As you ponder this, can I explain something about the place where the gas attack is said to have happened?

No independent Western journalist could go there. He or she would be killed or kidnapped within hours. Any report which comes from that region is filtered through people who you never see in the film that does get out. I have met men like them on my travels. I would not want to offend them. These are the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, alias the Al-Nusra Front, alias Al Qaeda, the Syrian ‘opposition’ which we in the West have been supporting for several years.

Yes, that’s right, the people we have been helping are not Liberal Democrats or Girl Guides or Quakers. No, they are the same movement which destroyed Manhattan’s Twin Towers.

The only big difference between them and Islamic State is that we drop bombs on Islamic State. And we drop bombs on behalf of Al-Nusra/Al Qaeda. I’ve noted here before how these people have publicly kidnapped, killed and even sunk their teeth into the entrails of dead enemies.”

I was waiting for more of the story but there wasn’t any. The info given was interesting but I scrolled down to nothing else. How about who you think did this. Do you support the action. What about the pipeline the Saudis want to put through to Turkey. Do you support the action….Where did Trump lose support and who did support it.

I saw several of those videos about the supposed chemical attack and they were full of inconsistencies.
Aid worker with no gloves or proper equipment, “victims being brought into hospitals with their clothes still on, not exhibiting appropriate symptoms of Sarin. People that were supposed to be dead actually moving. The pinpoint pupils are also a sign of morphine overdose which I only saw clearly in maybe two patients.
Also, who would want to drag the USA into this war, what would it benefit them and how.
I would agree with Massie and Paul. Doesn’t make sense for Assad to do it. Even the Virginia Senator and former chief Pentagon prosecutor Mr. Black, said there was no motive for Assad to do this.

I guess you don’t have a forum here.

Comments to our site have been limited because it is monitored by volunteers not a full time staff. Sadly we have to monitor because of vile threats and other abuses by radical Islamists and neocons.

I find your observations accurate … The “undeniable” proof the White House has so far referred to is a news clip on CNN featuring White Helmets associated with al-Qaeda. It is Trump’s new CNN foreign policy. He bombs nations based on CNN or Fox News reports.
