Tanzania: Church Blast Kills One, 66 Injured

ONE person has died and 66 others injured following an explosion from what is believed to be a hand grenade thrown into a church compound in Arusha yesterday morning, police said.

The Arusha Regional Commissioner, Mr Magesa Mulongo, said the incident occured during a function to consecrate a new Roman Catholic church at Olasiti Parish in the Arusha Diocese.

Bombings in Sudan Kill Christians, Destroy Church Building

Thousands of Nuba Mountain civilians have taken refuge from government bombing in caves.

The Sudanese government’s bombing of predominantly Christian, ethnic Nuba civilians in South Kordofan state has taken more lives the first three months of this year – possibly including Muslims, sources said.

Two civilians were killed and 12 seriously wounded on March 19 when a Sudan government Antonov airplane dropped bombs on them in the Hadra area, local sources told Morning Star News.

Nigerian church hit by suicide bombing

At least seven people have been killed and dozens injured in a suicide bombing on Sunday during Mass at a Catholic church in northern Nigeria, officials say.

An explosive-laden vehicle drove into St Rita’s Catholic Church which was packed with worshipers when the suicide bomber struck in the Malali area of Kaduna, Nigeria, and detonated its load, ripping a hole in the wall and roof.

Muslims kill 11, injure 60 in Jos and Biu Nigeria

Muslims bomb another church 11 dead

In Jos, a suicide bomber drove into the auditorium of Christ Chosen Church, along Rukuba Road in Jos North LGA, during worship hours, in a bomb-laden car which exploded, killing no fewer than 10 worshippers and over 60 critically injured. In Biu, gunmen invaded the EYN Church and opened fire on the worshippers. Many of the worshippers were said to have been killed while others received various degrees of injuries.

Two Profs, many others killed in church attack by Muslims

The bloodbath continues in Nigeria as the Islamist Boko Haram attacked a church at a Christian University. The death count at the St Stephen’s Chapel came to twenty-one plus more than one hundred injured. This was the only attack reported in the United States as best I can determine. Other churches were attacked this past Sunday by gunmen and with bombs. A bomb was found in an ambulance and defused as well. Iraq Church Bombed in Kirkuk, at Least 23 Wounded

Police say the bomb in the northern city of Kirkuk heavily damaged the Syrian Catholic church. The church’s parish leader, Rev. Imad Yalda, was the only person inside the building at the time of the blast and was wounded.

The 22 others also wounded in the explosion were people whose nearby homes were hit by the blast.

Security forces later disabled two other car bombs near the Christian Anglican church and the Mar Gourgis church.
