In Saudi Arabia, rape victims are flogged for violating Sharia law.

A girl who was the victim of a gang rape in Saudi Arabia was sentenced to 200 lashes and six months in jail. This is the upside down world of Sharia law — where the victim is considered a criminal.

She was raped by seven men – but convicted by a Sharia court for not being in the presence of a male guardian in public.

The lawyer who defended her reached out to the media to tell about this injustice. He has since been punished as well. The Sharia court has confiscated his license and demanded that he attend a disciplinary hearing later this month.

Saudi Arabia has defended its punishment of this rape victim because the government claims it was her own fault for being out without a male guardian.

Human Rights Watch, a leftist group has slammed this Saudi decision. The verdict, “not only sends victims of sexual violence the message that they should not press charges, but in effect offers protection and impunity to the perpetrators.”

This is the barbaric nature of Sharia law: The rape victim is the criminal.
