A soldier with the UK Welsh Guards in Afghanistan was shot to death by an Afghan policeman shortly after they had their picture taken together.
Lance Corporal Brent McCarthy is shown smiling beside an Afghan policeman. Within seconds after the photo was taken, the Afghan shot McCarthy to death and his comrade Lance Corporal Lee Davies.
McCarthy and Davies were part of a team who had gone to an Afghan police base in the Helmand province on May 12. They had gone to this site to meet with local police officials to set up a training program. Fortunately, the Afghan policeman was shot to death by a British soldier when he tried to escape.
This is just the latest incident in numerous “green on blue” attacks on Western forces working in Afghanistan to protect these people from a resurgence of the Taliban and Al Qaeda.
Global Times recently listed the number of Afghan “ally” attacks against Western forces since the beginning of 2013. On October 5, an Afghan security guard killed an American soldier; on September 26, another American soldier was killed by an Afghan soldier; and on September 21, an Afghan soldier shot three U.S. soldiers to death. The list goes on and on.
Our “nation building” effort in Afghanistan is clearly a dismal failure. The nation is run by Islamists, who use Sharia as their foundational law. They hate us and they’re routinely killing our soldiers.
Andrew McCarthy, writing in Spring Fever: The Illusion Of Islamic Democracy, describes the mess we’ve helped create in Afghanistan by supporting a nation based on Sharia law.
